25,000 United miles posted today!
After the 5% cash back bonus period expired on my last credit card, I have been taking advantage of a few credit card offers to build up some frequent flier mileage in anticipation of a trip overseas. United hubs in the nearest major airport, so I went with the Chase United Mileage Plus Visa.
I have received a variety of offers from United for this card, generally for ~20k miles. Ibut did some searching and found a better offer here: http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?partner_dir_name=united_signature_25k_afw
I made my first purchase on the card ($600 worth of graduate tuition) about a month and a half before my 25,000 miles posted. When they did, I got a nice surprise: tuition payments are rewarded with double miles on this card!
So I got 25,000 miles plus a $25 off travel voucher, a one-way upgrade, and scored an extra couple hundred miles for paying my tuition on the card. All in all, not a bad deal. I do, of course, pay off the balance every month though, and there is an annual fee after the first year, but I intend to cancel the card prior. Read the small print if you sign up, of course, to make sure that you are getting exactly what you expect!
*I hold the aforementioned card but receive no compensation in any form from this post.
