Seven Life-Changing Financial Decisions

Are you on the path to financial success?  The Actuarial Foundation and Women’s Institute for a Secure Retirement published an easy-to-read, 64 page booklet addressing just that question by way of seven steps.  The decisions, or steps really, are commonsense but not necessarily commonplace among young people.

According to the booklet, the “road map for making wiser financial decisions” involves:

  1. Start planning early for long-term goals.
  2. Find a job with benefits.
  3. Stay involved in your finances.
  4. Avoid revolving debt and keep your credit clean.
  5. Carefully plan your retirement strategy.
  6. Learn about and practice good investment planning.
  7. Protect yourself with adequate insurance.

Simple enough, right?  If you master these principles in your twenties, you will set yourself up for financial well-being that most people only dream about…not to mention doing your part to help break the financially irresponsible image of young people.  Check out the booklet at: http://actuarialfoundation.org/consumer/wiser_life-defining.pdf.
